Charles W. "Buck" Smith is the Senior Technical Trainer at the Circuit Technology Training Center. Charles received his degree from W. V. College of Technology and joined IBM immediately after graduation.
Charles spent the first part of his career with IBM in various capacities including procurement engineering, procurement quality engineering, semiconductor characterization, quality management, and vendor program management. Locations included Manassas Va., Burlington VT., Austin TX., and Rochester MN.
Charles was offered and accepted the opportunity to join Solectron Corporation in Charlotte NC. as a business unit Quality Manager and where he was responsible for the total quality management of a 400 person business unit serving customers such as Cisco Networks, Lucent, NCR, Symbol Technologies, etc.
While serving at Solectron Charles became an IPC Instructor for IPC-A-610 Workmanship Standards and IPC J-STD-001 Process Control requirements for electronic products. Taking this a step further Charles became a full time trainer and now holds Instructor certifications in the above IPC disciplines as well as IPC's new 7711/7721 Rework, Repair, and Modification of Electronic Assemblies.
Charles is a veteran of the United States Army where he served as a Military Policeman in Korea, Seneca Army Depot in upstate NY, and in Fort Lewis WA |
