Multilayered PCB's and flexible printed circuit laminates represent construction and soldering techniques where few technicians have rework and repair experience. Often these assemblies have been scrapped when they could have been repaired. As the cost of these assemblies has escalated, along with increased circuit complexity, so too, has the need to repair.
Repair of multilayered and flexible circuit assemblies represents one of the most challenging for the rework and repair operator. The work is delicate and skill intensive. Multilayer and Flexible Circuit Repair will give students the skills required for this complex circuit repair.
Course Objectives
1: The student will repair multilayer and flexible PCB’s observing safety precautions required to use the appropriate tools, solder and flux.
2: The student will repair multilayer and flexible PCB’s observing precautions required to eliminate ESD hazards.
3: The student will correctly identify, use, and maintain tools and accessories required to repair multilayer and flexible PCB’s.
4: The student will repair multilayer and flexible PCB’s demonstrating an understanding of solder, flux, heat transfer and the soldering process.
5: The student will repair an internal trace on a multilayer PCB.
6: The student will repair an isolated pad on a multilayer PCB.
7: The student will repair a damaged plated-through-hole with an attached end run on a multilayer PCB.
8: The student will repair an internal trace connected to a plated-through-hole on a multilayer PCB.
9: The student will repair damage in the middle of a conductor on a flexible PWB.
